About Hazelwood

For many years, the wood of hazelnut tree has been used as a natural, holistic product to help in preventing or relieving certain health problems. Hazelwood originated long ago when Aboriginal people discovered that they could put Hazelwood chips on their babies’ necks to soothe teething pains and skin irritations. The leaves and bark have been used as cataplasms or tea for painful inflammatory swellings such as bruises, haemorrhoids and tumours.

These health benefits have also been well known to Native American people, which is why they would place small pieces of hazel wood around child's neck in order to alleviate the pains and symptoms associated with inflamed and sore gums.

Hazelwood has the property of absorbing the body’s acidity through skin contact, neutralizing the excess acidity of the human body. Since many disorders and ailments like:

·       Migraines

·       Headaches

·       Heartburn

·       Acid reflux

·       Arthritis

·       Osteoarthritis

·       Eczema

·       Acne

·       Skin rash

·       Psoriasis

·       Ulcers

·       Constipation/diarrhoea

·       Dental cavities (if the cause of the cavities is excess acid - which sometimes it is not), can be directly linked with a PH imbalance.

The wearing a Hazelwood necklace can help the whole family, from children to adults.

Baltic Amber Design Hazelwood & amber necklaces, bracelets and anklets are handmade from trees grown in Canada without chemicals; Baltic amber comes from Baltic region. All products are made with only the safest and highest quality materials.

All our Hazelwood & Baltic amber children necklaces, bracelets and anklets string are knotted between each bead if by any chance it does happen to break; the beads will not scatter and become a choking hazard.

Each necklace, bracelet and anklet is secured with a plastic clasp which will pop open when reasonable force is applied.

Always make sure the necklace is in contact with skin. Our Hazelwood necklaces are therapeutic jewellery. Our necklaces are not meant to go in your child’s mouth at any time, under any circumstance.

Hazelwood will not be damaged by a small amount of water, however, do not leave it in a constant wet state and please take it off before showering or bathing and to be safe, we recommend that you avoid getting your Hazelwood necklace wet whenever possible. If it does get wet, be sure to allow it to completely dry out. Please do not let chlorine, soaps or shampoos come into contact with your Hazelwood.
Keep in mind that Hazelwood is wood. If the necklaces/bracelets are in contact with water for a prolonged period of time, there is a risk of peeling and a loss of colour.

The life span of the Hazelwood will depend on the level of acidity of the body. Higher acidity may mean a shorter lifespan of the necklace. Each child is different, but symptoms can begin to abate as quickly as within a few days or even a few hours. Other ailments may take a couple of weeks to reach their maximum benefit. Watch the inside of the wood for darkening to see if it is having an effect. Wood that darkens deeply and quickly signals a high acidity in your child. Children with very high acidity may blow through their first necklace in just a few weeks. Subsequent ones will maintain its medicinal benefits much longer for circa 6 months to 1 year.

Indicators that a necklace is losing effectiveness are: the ends of the wood beads (the flesh) will darken and/or symptoms return.  Don't be alarmed if/when the bark comes off the Hazelwood beads; the wood beads will change over time as they cannot be coated with anything in order to perform their function (absorbing acidity).
